Today’s forecast levels of pollution are predicted to be higher than normal across parts of England from the south east to some northern areas. Some air quality stations in Greater Manchester are showing moderate levels of air quality. The high levels are due to a combination of light winds not dispersing urban emission plus a south-easterly wind bringing in polluted air from Europe. Fresh winds from the Atlantic will disperse the pollution on Saturday improving local air quality.
While most people will not be affected, adults and children with lung problems, and adults with heart problems, are advised to avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors,
