Latest News  >  50,000 early deaths linked to poor air quality

Air quality is linked to 50,000 premature deaths each year and is responsible for shortening the life expectancy of everyone in the UK by an average of seven to eight months according to a report by the Environmental Audit Committee.

The report also highlights the need for further work to quantify the effects of air pollution and to raise awareness of the problem across Government Departments. It calls for more action to be taken, particularly in relation to pollution from transport to improve health.
