Latest News  >  Construction Site Air Quality Seminar

Dust and other air pollution from demolition and construction can impact greatly on the health and quality of life of people working on and living close to these sites if they are badly managed.

The Greater Manchester Public Protection Partnership on behalf of the 10 Local Authorities plus Warrington Borough Council are undertaking a stakeholder "scoping exercise" to develop Air Quality Guidelines relating to Construction and Demolition Sites.

The guidelines are being developed to assist architects, environmental consultants, developers, local authority officers and any parties involved in the construction process to protect the health of workers and the public.

The Seminar was held to consult as wide a cross section of stakeholders about the viability and possible content of Guidelines which could be developed in the Greater Manchester Area, relating to minimising the impact on Local Air Quality when Demolition or Construction activities take place.
